I haven't watched the videos yet, but did click the link and found the "Truth about Chocolate" (title?) article. So, no more Hershey products in my shopping cart until the company gets its act together. I'll also research what are okay brands to purchase. Consumers have a responsibility to consider what they are supporting when they spend their money. And consumers have the capacity to empathize because they're real people. Corporation, on the other hand, are not real people (which is why I am personally soooo opposed to them being able to dump truckloads of money into political campaigns). Corporations are all about profit- regardless of what they advertise. Corporate community projects are designed to sell more by generating consumer good will. So, I think there is a role for government in setting rules for corporations because corporate self-policing is notoriously poor at maintaining accountability.maggiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02409400959408658124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2500784247355256441.post-25270427348492843192010-10-27T07:00:04.394-04:002010-10-27T07:00:04.394-04:00Shocking as these are, in some ways they are not s...Shocking as these are, in some ways they are not surprising. They really grieve my heart and of course, are making me re-think our use of chocolate. And as much as I hope and pray for things to change, I've sadly come to realize that all the laws, embargoes, etc., don't change the real problem, which is the self-seeking condition of the human heart.Leighhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02435811789823712254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2500784247355256441.post-35699070953916607342010-10-25T09:27:14.426-04:002010-10-25T09:27:14.426-04:00Well, I haven't make the duck yet because my (...Well, I haven't make the duck yet because my (almost new) oven quit and I haven't had time to deal with it because I've been in midterm exams. (doh!) I have my grandmother's old copy and it does have several recipes for duck, including "Roast Bigarade" which apparently involves an orange, currant jelly, boiling consomme, and Madeira among other things. Sadly, I have none of that. Well, maybe an orange. Regular roast duck for us.

Word Vixen, I've only had duck once. The kids liked it (both of them- amazing!). I thought it was okay.
